I recently finished the game with my warrior and am now looking for a new class to be. I dont know whether to be a necro or a ranger.
Could you please list effective builds for both these classes and tell me which one you would choose, i just cant decide

eh... firstly i suggest you wait until factions, i got 3 lvl 20 guys and i also want to make a new one, but factions is only 2 weeks away, so i suggest you wait for that.
Ranger:
pro's: can interupt good and traps can help team
con's: traps do minimal damage, arrows in the first area's till desert are almost overpowerd with a good bow, later an ele or good necro can easily outdamage you with any good skill they got.
Necro's
pro's: can make minion army's, SS is a good factor.
con's: aside from those 2 i can't really thing up any good PvE build that really can help a team, but i don't have a necro so i suggest you wait for some1 to reply that has experience with this class

Ranger is better for you if you dont have that much experience with caster classes.

You have to start somewhere, why not start as a necro?
It's a nice class considering that the whole party doesn't depend on you, and has as much armor as a ranger, so takes good dmg, whereas an elementalist doesn't.
Necro's are also versatile, with Spiteful Spirit, or you can go MM, or go blood to heal yourself and do nice dmg and charge the other casters.
Rangers are very versatile too, more versatile than a necro IMO. One minute they are barraging people enemies, next they are spiking, next they are trapping.
One thing you might want to think about, a lot of rangers are angry because some people don't like rangers for whatever reason. I must admit I see "GLF battery Necro" or "GLF nuker/SS necro" more than "GLF trapper". Rangers are FAR from useless to say the least.
NOTE: All of the above is opinion, I'm sure people will disagree.

i agree.
if you want melee again go ranger.
if you want to do massive amounts of damage and good for your team and get picked up in a hurry everytime you are looking for a group play SS or MM necro.
i've read before and agree, all you need in pve are warriors, monks and necros.
